Jessie Merritt CVPM - Practice Manager with OVH since 2002
Jessie was one of those children who seemed to gravitate to animals from the day she was born. Bringing home "stray" animals and nursing injured wildlife was a routine part of her childhood. Jessie's first position in the veterinary profession was in the late 1980's as a kennel attendant in a large hospital in a New Jersey suburb.
But it wasn't until 1988, when she was hired as a veterinary assistant in a wonderful practice in Pleasanton, California that she truly began to understand the compassion, skill, goodness and dedication of the people in her profession.
Since those years Jessie has been proud to carry the title of Kennel Assistant, Technician, Receptionist, Office Manager and finally, after 2 years of studying, became a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in September 2009. Ms. Merritt is active within one of the most well respected professional veterinary organizations for management called the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association as both a participant on the Membership Committee as well as a Mentor in the formal Mentorship Program. Jessie also enjoys participating in various veterinary social networks in addition to helping facilitate the monthly meeting and general organization of a group of local Practice Managers whose insight, wisdom and wit she greatly admires.
In 2011, she was selected Veterinary Practice Manager of the Year by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association!
Personally, she was recently married to a wonderful man named Jeff. In their spare time they enjoy music, hiking, their grandsons, camping, mother nature, gardening and working on their new home. Jeff and Jessie have one Australian Cattle dog named Ringo (The World's Smartest Dog), one Giant Schnauzer "Cajun" (an 80-pound juvenile delinquent) and their newest edition "Hazel," the Caucasian Ovcharka puppy (the princess of the group). You can see their pictures under our photos page!
If you ask Jessie about life, she will say, "One of the things that will always bring me my greatest sense of fulfillment is spending my days working side by side with people I truly admire, that share the goal of helping our clients take the best possible care of their much-loved pets. All of that and puppy breath too - it doesn't get much better than that!"
Lisa -Lead Receptionist with OVH since 2011
Lisa comes to OVH with a strong background with animals and people as well as a natural instinct for seeing peoples' strengths and gifts. She is responsible for the daily running of our reception team and is always vigilantly seeking new ways to raise the bar on customer service!
Lisa has an adorable Pomeranian named Tyson and enjoys her free time reading, horseback riding and exploring Oregon. Stop by and say hello!
Anne - Receptionist with OVH since 2011
Anne is our Volunteer Coordinator extraordinaire and has been instrumental in introducing a number of passionate and curious young people into the world of veterinary medicine.
Though she's lived for short periods in other locales, Anne was born in Oregon and is happy to be here.
A graduate of Western Oregon and Portland State Universities, she's returned to her first love - working in the field of veterinary care. She first began working in a veterinary hospital when she was 17, and never lost her love for it. Because she loves both people and animals, her position on OVH's client care team is an ideal fit for her.
When she's not spending her day at OVH, Anne enjoys as much time as possible with her fiance, Michael, and her German Shepherd sidekick, Sigrid.
